what is the Credit dashboard?

Customers who are participating in the carbon credit program will have access to the credit dashboard where It serves as a centralized platform where users can easily access and understand their carbon credit interactions.

The dashboard provides  a summary of customer's carbon credit earnings, offering a transparent overview of the impact customers are making by using Carbon Cure's solution.

A crucial part of the dashboard provides detailed guidance on the data customers need to submit to generate or validate additional carbon credits.

This integrated approach aims to empower customers, making it easier for them to keep up with their concrete production their carbon credits.

Task

To redesign the Credit Dashboard. This redesign aims to address and rectify issues in the current dashboard, where information was previously found to be confusing or misleading. By enhancing the visual appeal and functionality of the dashboard, the project seeks to ensure clarity and accuracy in the information displayed, enabling customers to make informed decisions based on the streamlined and trustworthy information provided.

The Problem

The Credit Dashboard currently presents misleading information regarding customers' carbon credit earnings. The complex process for validating and generating credits depends on the data submitted by the customer, as well as the credits sold to buyers. However, the incentives for customers to engage with the dashboard have not been clearly communicated, leading to a lack of motivation to revisit the dashboard. Consequently, this has led to customers sharing less data with the company and underutilizing the Carbon Cure solution as a whole.

The solution

A comprehensive redesign is necessary to ensure accurate and clear information is conveyed, eliminating user confusion. This redesign should include clearer indicators for credit generation and inventory management, allowing users to easily understand their carbon credit earnings and the status of their contributions. Additionally, a more prominent section should be created to highlight the specific data required from users, facilitating a smoother submission process. Implementing a more transparent approach to displaying Carbon Credit Information will also be crucial.

The Solution

problem statement

Concrete producers aiming for sustainability in the industry need a way to track and understand the impact they are creating while utilising CarbonCure's concrete mix. It has been shown that it also offers a greener alternative by reducing carbon footprints without compromising performance. This adoption presents an opportunity for producers to generate additional revenue through the acquisition of carbon credits.

Research Conducted

Design Workshop

  1. Implemented the "Crazy Eights" activity to gather input from other CarbonCure staff regarding desired developments for the new credit dashboard.

  2. Workshop participants representing various departments involved in the carbon credit program were chosen to gather diverse perspectives on customer interactions related to the program.

  3. Navigating the challenge of coordinating a large group for the workshop, time emerged as a significant obstacle to gathering insights efficiently. The "Crazy Eights" activity proved ideal for rapid idea generation, engaging all participants and facilitating the collection of a plethora of ideas within a limited time frame

Key Findings

  • Employees involved in the carbon credit program at CarbonCure have noted that customers emphasize three primary factors regarding the program: the revenue generated, the timing of sales, and the schedule for receiving payments.

  • The overall information on the current dashboard were to overwhelming to look at

User Testing

  1. Conducted usability testing on current and new design

  2. Assigned identical questions involving the subject performing actions to locate specific elements, aiming to assess which design concept the user found easier to navigate.

Key Findings

  • Testing and prototyping the new streamlined design with customers validated design assumptions. By presenting less cluttered information and focusing more on relevant data that mattered to customers, it significantly improved navigation and efficiency in executing actions on the credit dashboard.

Solution

Number of carbon credits associated with the action items are misleading as well as current data visualization of their credit inventory

How might we design a more accurate and transparent system for quantifying carbon credits associated with action items and improve the data visualization of our carbon credit inventory to enhance clarity and user trust?

To optimize engagement and clarity, the carbon credit dashboard will be streamlined to focus solely on earnings and payment schedules, prominently highlighting action items and their financial benefits, thereby reducing confusion and enhancing user participation.

Action items are being overlooked, resulting in insufficient mix data submitted. In order to generate customer's credits we need their mix data generate credits.

How might we better highlight and simplify the process of submitting mix data for action items to ensure customers can easily and accurately provide the necessary information for generating their carbon credits?

Enhancing the visibility of action items by enlarging their section and clearly specifying the required mix data to encourage accurate submissions

Here, you can track the progress of your submitted data as it awaits validation by Vera, the leading authority in carbon credit certification. After you've submitted your mix data, our team meticulously reviews it to ensure its accuracy and compliance with standards. Once validated, you'll receive a precise calculation of the carbon credits you've earned, empowering you to make a meaningful impact on sustainability. Stay tuned for updates on your pending carbon credits!

Frame 257.png

Here, you'll find an overview of your environmental impact, represented by a numerical value indicating the total number of carbon credits that have been both validated and sold. This provides you with a comprehensive view of the positive change you've made through your sustainable actions.

Action item section

Frame 255.png

In response to user feedback, we've enhanced the usability of our platform by improving the visibility of action items for submitting data. Previously, these actions weren't prominently displayed, making it difficult for users to engage. Now, with the redesigned interface, action items have their dedicated section, providing clear instructions for users to submit the requested data. Additionally, we've introduced a user-friendly "upload mix design" button, allowing users to conveniently upload their data directly within the page. These design enhancements streamline the data submission process, ensuring a seamless user experience.

transaction receipt

Whenever a batch of carbon credits is sold, a transaction receipt will be generated and displayed in this section. This feature ensures transparency and provides customers with a clear record of the amount of their carbon credits that have been sold. Stay informed and track the sale of your carbon credits with ease, knowing that your environmental impact is making a tangible difference.

In conclusion

The credit dashboard required an uplift to enhance its efficacy. Through streamlining design and information, we anticipate it evolving into a more potent tool, fostering greater customer engagement with sustainable building practices. Personally, I found this project both enjoyable and challenging, particularly in effectively communicating diverse levels of information to ensure ease of understanding for our customers.
